Punk/Review THE 351's - NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT
The 351's were formed in September 2023. Kev was playing guitar with The Rudesters (formerly The Cranky's) when Dom joined them as the new (and last) singer, followed shortly after by Tin as the new (and last) drummer.
The raw, intense first EP by THE 351's titled "NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT" serves as an introduction to the burgeoning punk scene in Quebec City. Drawing inspiration from early Oi and old-school punk, the band creates a sound that is both nostalgic and novel by combining gritty realism with a contemporary edge. This EP is a promising beginning for a band that is obviously enthusiastic about what they do. It combines razor-sharp production that makes their songs come to life with classic punk aggressiveness.
The songs on “NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT” encapsulate the punk genre's attitude of rebellion and camaraderie. High-octane listening is made possible by the band's dynamic instrumentation, which is defined by quick rhythms, snappy bass lines, and relentless guitar riffs. Fans of traditional punk and Oi movements will undoubtedly connect with the raw yet powerful vocals, which contain iconic choruses that call for audience participation.
THE 351's are able to maintain their relevance in today's music scene by incorporating a modern flare despite the references to the early days of punk. The band's strong energy is enhanced without losing its unadulterated essence thanks to the EP's production, which finds a balance between clarity and rough realism.
“NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT” is only the beginning for THE 351's, who intend to get back into the studio for a second EP in December. In addition to honoring punk's origins, this debut establishes the band's own character, leaving fans curious to see how their music develops in subsequent albums.
