Rock/Review Darià Artiola - If Memories Had Eyes

Darià Artiola has been involved in music somehow since as long as he can ever remember, not unlike many other humans who have been surrounded by sound during their terrestrial journey. This project couldn't be possible without the collaboration of three amazing people: IK Miranda (producer, guitars, synths, and smiles), Antonio Rubio (guitars, visuals, and pyrotechnics), and Albert Aran (drums, design, linguistics, and stunning looks).

"If Memories Had Eyes," Darià Artiola's sophomore album, delves deeply into the ephemeral nature of memory and its tremendous influence on our sense of self. In fourteen captivating tracks that clock in at over forty-five minutes, Artiola invites listeners to consider the nature of reality and the complex interplay between memory and identity.

The album is fundamentally a moving meditation on how fleeting memory is. With every song, Artiola explores the maze of the human brain more thoroughly, revealing the intricate relationship between memories and awareness in the present. With each tune and lyric acting as a signpost leading us through the maze of memory, "If Memories Had Eyes" transforms into a symbolic tour through the mental corridors.

The title of the album is a provocative statement in and of itself, asking listeners to consider the unlikely possibility that memories may have the ability to observe. Every song has this overarching theme, which challenges our conceptions of reality and existence by creating a tapestry of reflection and discovery.

Through a wide range of musical genres and literary themes, Artiola expertly conveys the spirit of contemplation, desire, and nostalgia across the whole album. Each song, which ranges from delicate ballads to haunting melodies, connects with emotional depth and honesty, engrossing listeners in a sublime journey of introspection and self-discovery.

In the end, "If Memories Had Eyes" breaks free from the confines of traditional music and emerges as a profound journey across the terrain of awareness and memory. Darià Artiola's latest album is a tribute to the ability of music to stir profound emotions and encourage existential inquiry, with its melancholy melodies and captivating stories.
